Goolwa Beach, Fleurieu South Coast, SA
Sea Salt Beach House is on the Encounter Bikeway that follows the spectacular coastline between Victor Harbor and Goolwa. The 31.5km shared path winds its way along from The Bluff (Rosetta Head) in Victor Harbor to The Wharf in Goolwa.
If cycling to Victor sounds a bit too strenuous, catch the historic Cockle Train and weave your way alone the pristine coastline, stopping at Middleton & Port Elliot along the way.
Goolwa Beach is renowned for it’s surf beach and beach access by 4WD to the Murray Mouth 10km down the coast. More cocklers than ever are heading to Goolwa to collect not just bait but a feast for the dinner table now that cockles have found favour with the foodies.
The Goolwa Wharf Precinct is a year-round destination to discover. With the fortnightly Cittaslow Markets, monthly 'At the Wharf' food, wine and music, events; an array of businesses including cellar doors, cafes, restaurants, distilleries, breweries, tourism operators offering daily trips into the Coorong, Steam boat and train trips, art galleries and wine bars - there truly is something for everyone 'At the Wharf'
Did you know, Goolwa is one of only two places in the world where you can link a journey between a steam train and a steam powered paddleboat in just a few steps? The other is in Mallaig, Scotland.
